I have lived on the coast of New South Wales (Australia) for many years and love the coastal, surf and beach life. It is casual and relaxed and very de-stressing. The feel of the salt air, the sand and sunshine is unique. I have spent a lot of time in Hawaii and love the atmosphere, the tropical scents and the colour. There is such a great holiday feeling to the islands.  My family also have a lifelong interest in surfing and it's origins in the islands of Hawaii.

Some years ago my husband and I (with some friends) built a small mainly water sports focussed resort in Samoa - Sa'Moana Resort. We have both spent a lot of time in Samoa and have grown to love the people, their amazing culture and handicrafts.

We have also, between the two of us, spent time on other tropical islands, Bali, The Maldives, Fiji. As a result of our travels and the beautiful jewellery and interesting handicrafts we have seen (and inspired by the interest which they aroused in people) I decided to start importing some of these products. I decided that the easiest way to reach the biggest number of people and keep the prices competitive was to do this via the internet. So I set up Island Style Designs.

Not everyone can live on a tropical island but you can feel as though you do. What I aim to do with this webpage is bring the tropics to life, bring the casual relaxed lifestyle to you, as well as some incredible handicrafts from the islands of Indonesia and Polynesia and bring some of the history of surfing to you.
